The Malta Football Association and McDonald’s (Malta) this week put pen to paper on an agreement, whereby the latter will be sponsoring the finals of the UEFA Under-17 Championship which will be played here in May.

Malta FA president Norman Darmanin Demajo and treasurer Ivan Mizzi signed on behalf of football organisation while Laura Jasenaite, Group Marketing Lea-der, represented McDonald’s.

By way of this partnership, the company will also be responsible for the selection of more than 100 boys and girls to act as player escorts at matches from the prestigious UEFA finals.

McDonald’s announced they have combined this to their campaign leading to a selection of one young hopeful for the experience of acting as player escort at the FIFA World Cup finals in Brazil in summer.

The agreement also gives the option for McDonald’s to offer clients free tickets for the U-17 finals matches.

The championship is currently in its Elite Qualification phase with matches being played between March 20 and 31.

The seven best teams at this level in Europe will join Malta in the final tournament scheduled to start on May 9. The final will be played on May 21.

The draws for the finals stage will be held at St James Cavalier in Valletta, on April 9.
