Pietro Ghedin is set to be officially unveiled as the new Malta coach next month after his appointment was ratified by the MFA Executive Committee.

Ghedin, who watched last weekend’s BOV Premier League matches, had a cordial meeting with the members of the association's top brass yesterday afternoon.

The Italian, who had a spell at the helm of the national team in the nineties, is believed to have told the MFA officials that he has been genuinely impressed by the association's investment in facilities and grassroots football.

Ghedin has agreed a three-and-a-half-year contract with the MFA that will take him through the qualifying competitions for the 2014 World Cup and Euro 2016.

Prior to accepting the Malta job, Ghedin had been in charge of the Italy women's team since 2007.
