Labour MEP Miriam Dalli is urging parents and grandparents to protect children from cyberbullying, pledging her support to the campaign dubbed #stophate.

“The campaign, launched by the Eden Leisure group, various ministries and government and private entities, is highly laudable. Cyberbullying is a cruel reality for many children and is unfortunately ever on the increase.

“I fully support this campaign where the objective is to educate victims so they no longer accept this state of affairs,” Dr Dalli said.

In recent months, she met with the ICT Coalition, representing Google, Facebook, Askfm and other industry giants, in Brussels and urged them to regulate themselves and protect children.

“If such regulation is not developed, I believe that common European legislation is necessary to fight this modern reality,” she said.
