Luisa Spagnoli recently launched its new autumn/winter collection during a fashion show held on board the cruiseliner Costa Magica.

The collection, which takes us back to the 1970s, features a comeback of divided skirts, either flared or pleated, to be worn with felt, wide-brimmed fedora hats – the perfect combination to recreate an androgynous look à la Diane Keaton in Annie Hall.

Couture suits in tweed or houndstooth feature very close-fitting blazers that exalt the waist, matched with rich fur necks. Blouses in impalpable silk decorated with a bow are matched with large waving pants or with very high-waisted sheath skirts.

Pleats are super trendy, whether in the day to give a gentle touch to even the most rigorous suit, or in the evening with chiffon capes recalling divas from bygone times and with long, semi-transparent, black skirts exuding eternal charm.

The youngest women will love the kilted skirts in knitted jacquard featuring ethnic patterns and folk fringes, and wrap-around matching scarves will warm up the coldest days of winter.

Many outerwear items, in addition to the essential knitted cloaks, include mink capes, small haute couture coats, urban anoraks and lighweight jackets.

Knitwear, the brand’s precious heritage, moves between tactile treatments and 3D effects: sheath dresses in shaved wool with clean lines and optical patterns, twin-sets with colour blocking inserts and jumpers/shirts with a trompe l’oeil effect, as well as feminine small dresses in super-soft angora and small Swarovski that embellish even the most minimal pullover.

The camel colour is as an elegant passe-partout all day long, though the colour palette also ranges from natural shades to bright colours such as contrasting red and yellow, without ever neglecting white and black and blue in their various nuances, the absolute stars from the happy hour onwards.

The hat is the primary accessory that adds personality to each outfit: the 1920s bell-shaped cloche hat makes even the classic sweater with a string of pearls extremely impressive; the beret warms up very classic items as well as romantic outfits, while the floppy hat satisfies everyone.

Fur necks become the absolute stars when they are matched with blazers or suits.

For cocktails, fur profiles enhance damask suits, while the new volumes of jersey dresses, featuring bright colours such as red and deep blue, acquire movement thanks to drapes.

For the night, exclusive fabrics such as damask satin, georgette and silk cady are embellished with applications of stones and Swarovski embroidery.

The collection is available at the Luisa Spagnoli store in Pjazza Tigné in Sliema.
