The Grand Lottery has been revamped to increase the chances of winning the jackpot for the first time since the game was launched in March.

Just days after Maltco CEO Ioannis Katakis told the media that the flagship lotto was not a failure, the company announced the probability of the big prize being won would almost double.

Players will now have a 1:400,000 chance instead of 1:700,000.

Tonight’s Grand Lottery draw offers a historically high jackpot of €1.56 million.

Maltco’s spokesperson said: “The game not only offers almost double the chances to win, but if the first prize category is not won, then all the prizes of the other winning categories will be increased as well.”

The chances of winning the second category will increase to 1:6,008 from 1:4,500, the third category will increase to 1:2,003 from 1:1,500 while the fourth category will increase to 1:401 from 1:300.

“That is almost a 50 per cent increase of all the secondary category prizes,” the spokesperson pointed out. Each ticket will still cost €3.

If the jackpot is not won, it will be increased by €10,000 each week.

Players have been growing increasingly sceptical about the Grand Lottery because it has failed to produce a single winner since its launch in March.

It was originally drawn every two months, but this was changed to weekly draws in September in an effort to boost its popularity.

Each ticket has a unique combination of 10 numbers consisting of seven digits, with 10 chances for the player to win a prize.

A total of 400,000 tickets will be available each week, and one of them will definitely have the winning combination.

The weekly Grand Lottery Draw is broadcast live on Smash TV at 8.30pm every Friday.

It is also streamed live on www.maltco.com.
