I know this is a real long shot, but I wonder if anyone in Malta, who maybe collects war medals and/or militaria, has the following medals in their possession?

As a very young boy of about seven, in 1960 I took a packet containing my father’s WWII medals to my school, Stella Maris in Balzan, to show them to my friends. Somehow I lost them there and have always wondered what has happened to them.

They are not financially valuable but have a family worth and I would love to get them back if possible. I would obviously pay for them. They consist of the 1939-45 Star; the Africa Star; the Italy Star, Defence Medal, War Medal and the Territorial Efficiency Medal.

The first five I can easily replace, but the last one is named around the rim to my father: Captain D.G. Wirrich RA 217249 and that is the one I would like to get back.

I realise this is a needle in a haystack job, but well worth a try. I may be contacted on david.wirrich@virgin.net.
