Thieves stole some cash in two separate but possibly linked hold-ups at Mosta and Paola yesterday evening.
The first robbery was from a stationery shop in Ruzar Briffa Street, Mosta at about 6.30 p.m. when a hooded person, brandishing a pointed instrument, threateningly demanded money from the owner. He made off with €200, the police said.
The same method was used in the second hold-up from a shop in Church Street, Paola over an hour later. About €100 were stolen from this shop.
The police said that a motorcycle, which was probably used in the Paola hold-up, was found nearby.
Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna is holding an inquiry into both cases.
