Hugo Lloris is in contention to start Tottenham’s game against Sheriff Tiraspol after he took part in training yesterday morning.

Goalkeeper Lloris was knocked unconscious in an accidental collision with Everton striker Romelu Lukaku in Sunday’s goalless draw.

Controversially, Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas allowed Lloris to remain on the field of play for the remaining 12 minutes of the game.

The France goalkeeper was given the all-clear after a brain scan, and he took part in the training session at Spurs’ HQ in Enfield yesterday. The 26-year-old will therefore be in contention to start for the visit of the Moldovan champions in today’s Europa League Group K clash.

There was a strong backlash against Villas-Boas’ decision not to substitute Lloris.

FIFA’s chief medical officer, the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) and international players’ union FIFPro all condemned the decision.

But Spurs insist the player was OK to continue playing after extensive medical tests.
