Liying Zhu, one of China’s finest young classical guitarists, will be performing in a recital being organised by the China Cultural Centre Team at Robert Samut Hall, Floriana, on Saturday at 8pm.

At the age of 11, Liying began to learn classical guitar under the instruction of Chen Zhi, the foremost guitar professor in China in the 1990s. Determined to pursue her dream, in 2003, Liying enrolled in the high school affiliated with the Beijing Central Conservatory of Music.

Before embarking on her Bachelor studies, Liying had already started to reveal her exceptional talent and won several prestigious awards.

Saturday’s recital will also feature Spanish dance interludes by guest flamenco dancer Juana.

Standard tickets at €12 (Chinese cultural centre members and concession tickets at €10) may be obtained from St James Cavalier by phone on 2122 3200 or via the link: http://goo.gl/aBuCdF. (€10 tickets must be presented along with the members’ cards or students/KartAnzjan cards at the door).
