John Flanagan, the up-and-coming Liverpool player, will be visiting Malta after accepting the invitation of the Liverpool Supporters Club (LSC) Malta and its Gozo branch.

The 18-year-old Flanagan, who came to prominence in the latter part of last season, will be here between June 30 and July 2.

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish brought Flanagan into the team after injuries limited his options at right-back. The youngster seized his chance with an assured performance in the Reds’ convincing 3-0 home win over Manchester City in April.

Flanagan kept his place in the team for most of the remaining matches, going on to make a total of seven first-team appearances in the Premier League last season.

His positive contribution earned Flanagan the Liverpool young player of the year award for 2010/11 as well as a call-up to England’s U-19 squad.

During his stay in Malta, Flanagan will pay a visit to the Gozo supporters’ club next Thursday and the LSC premises in Mosta the following day. Both events will be held in the evening.

Those Liverpool fans intending to attend next week’s activities will be requested to renew their club membership for season 2011/12 at the door, the LSC said.
