A joint venture of Vassallo Group and 6pm, Emcare was officially launched last Wednesday. Its mission is to provide a wide range of cutting-edge products and services, helping clients to monitor their health and ailments using advanced information and communications technology.

The first company of its kind in Malta, Emcare will provide men and women of all ages with the facility to live healthier and more secure lives through a range of self-administered devices. Each device is connected to a centralised information nerve centre which ensures that health issues are reacted to in real time.

Albert Fenech, one of Malta’s leading medical consultants and cardiologists, has endorsed Emcare. In a keynote speech delivered at the launch, Prof. Fenech said: “Services like the ones provided by Emcare will allow for better monitoring and control of a number of factors affecting our quality and quantity of healthy living in the comfort of our own home. They will also improve contact with family practitioners who will be better placed to monitor their patients.”

6pm Group chairman Ivan Bartolo said that Emcare “is an exciting venture which should be instrumental in making a quality leap in the provision of completely new services in the health sector”.

Vassallo Group chairman Zaren Vassallo added that “Emcare will contribute to strengthen the trust that patients already have intheir doctors”.

Concluding Emcare’s launch, Health Minister Joe Cassar said: “There is no doubt that the health sector presents various opportunities, which in themselves create other opportunities. Today, we are seeing how the private sector has used technology to start offering new health services.”
