St Anthony of Padua is venerated today as one of the greatest Franciscan saints. He is typically depicted with a book and the Infant Child Jesus, to whom He miraculously appeared, and is commonly referred to as the “finder of lost articles”.
Many miracles have been attributed to St Anthony, most of them taking place in Padua.
On the liturgical feast of St Anthony, Fr Marcello Ghirlando OFM will be leading a concelebrated Mass at St Anthony’s church in Għajnsielem, today at 7pm, together with a number of priests named Anthony, followed by the blessing and distribution of bread.
Various other activities will be held, including one for pupils of Ghajnsielem primary school at 9am. The Gozo diocese’s choir will participate.
