Anyone who passes regularly by the Lija cemetry would have noticed that the traffic lights there are more often out of commission than actually working. This is not due to lack of maintenance but rather to careless motorists.

Every time the lights start working again, some speeding driver loses control of the vehicle during the night and knocks down the pole/lights on the small centre strip.

When is Transport Malta or whoever is responsible going to realise that it is just pouring taxpayers’ money down the drain, replacing the lights every time? Does it need a genius to find an alternative solution such as overhead lights? It might even save someone’s life.
