At lija this year, we have a special anniversary. The lija tower, It-Torri, has for the past eight years been poorly lit or left even without some lamps on, with burnt lamps and, now, with different coloured lamps for the feast of Our Saviour by the Lija council.

This is very shameful and is a reflection of how the Lija people are treated by the local council.

When it was originally lit up, it was indeed a sight. Now, unlit, it has become an eyesore.

On behalf of many Lija residents, I appeal to have this problem sorted before thousands of Maltese and tourists visit us for the feast.

The local council should please note that the Lija people deserve much better.
