We are blessed with a Constitution that allows us a democratic Parliament and the choice of deputies to represent us in that highest institution. We do not, however, choose the foreign diplomats to represent their country in ours.

Many questions are being asked by the Maltese and by the Libyans in Malta about the Libyan Ambassador, Saadun Suayeh, regarding his two different behavioural modes during the time of the Gaddafi regime and after his downfall. Maybe he had his good reasons and maybe he is acting like a political opportunist.

By all means we are all entitled to express an opinion. Nonetheless, in the absence of good background knowledge of facts, we do not have a right to judge him and condemn him. The right to that final judgement will be given to the new Libyan Administration when it is constitutionally incumbent.
