Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester City gathered all the accolades from every corner of the world last season after their remarkable feat in upstaging the elite sides in the Premier League to win the title.

The 2015/16 campaign in England was a joy to watch from start to finish as the neutrals rooted for Ranieri’s Foxes to claim the jewel crown. They finished the championship 10 points ahead of second-placed Arsenal.

Leicester duo Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy scooped most of the plaudits and awards but N’Golo Kante is the beating heart of the team.

Leicester were unbeaten until a 5-2 home defeat to Arsenal in late September. If that upset was supposed to halt their momentum it certainly didn’t as Ranieri’s men went on to take 26 points from the next 10 games to top the table at Christmas.

Vardy featured prominently throughout this run, breaking a Premier League record of scoring in 11 successive games.

In the end, only Tottenham could apply any pressure on Leicester and when they were held by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, the title was Leicester’s with two games to spare.

In the domestic cups, Leicester lost away at Hull on penalties in the League Cup and in the FA Cup they bowed out to Tottenham away in a replay.

Liverpool, with Juergen Klopp in charge, still had a positive 2015-16 season despite losing two cup finals.

The fans at Anfield never saw such bond between player and manager.

Untimely injuries to key players meant Liverpool were inconsistent in the league after Christmas, but not so in the cup competitions.

Klopp’s side beat Stoke to reach the League Cup final, only to lose to Manchester City on penalties, while they only lost their FA Cup fourth-round replay at West Ham with the last kick of extra-time.

But while Liverpool’s campaign petered out, the Europa League breathed new life into their season, including victories over Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund on the way to a final showdown with holders Sevilla, losing 1-3.
