Historian Vincent Zammit will give a lecture that takes his audience on a journey through Malta’s 7,500 years of history and culture, in the context of the islands’ built and natural beauty as well as aspects of Malta’s culture like traditions and feasts.  The lecture will be accompanied by a photographic presentation by Daniel Cilia.

Malta and Gozo’s magnificent Neolithic Temples were built a millennium before Stonehenge and the Giza pyramids were built. Over the centuries, Malta fell under every power that conquered the Middle Sea, starting from the Phoenicians right up to the British period.

Zammit will draw parallels few are aware of, such as that the Augustinian church of St Mark in Rabat was Girolamo Cassar’s prototype for St John’s Conventual Church.

After the lecture, the book series The Cultural Heritage of Malta and Gozo will be launched.

The lecture is being held tomorrow at St Patrick’s Salesian School, St John Bosco Street, Sliema. The talk will be held in English and is free of charge. Bookings can be made by sending an e-mail to clomagbooks@gmail.com or by calling on 7945 6084.
