The Lazio Supporters Club Malta and Sta Luċija FC nursery will be working side by side this summer to stage the second Summer Camp for youth players under the tutelage of qualified officials from Italy.

The event, between July 11 and 16, will be held at the training grounds in Sta Luċija and the person in charge will be Volfango Patarca, the former Lazio talent scout who spent 20 years in the Roman club’s youth sector before seeking pastures new with Lanciano. He is currently head coach at Pro Sabina Calcio.

Patarca is a man who needs no introduction having seen top Italian footballers, the likes of Alessandro Nesta, Federico Mac-heda, Gigi di Biagio, Paolo di Canio, Marco Materazzi and Daniele Franceschini, among others, all playing at the top level in their career after emerging from the Lazio youth sector.

In Malta, Patarca will again be assisted by Giancarlo Oddi and Felice Pulici, two former Lazio greats who won the Italian league title in 1974.

Oddi played for Italy and also donned the colours of Palermo, Lecce, Bologna and Torino besides the sky blue of Lazio.

There will be a limit on the number of young players accepted to take part in the Summer Camp.

Participants will be grouped in different age categories.
