Former Air Malta chairman Lawrence Zammit is to succeed Alan Camilleri as chairman of Malta Enterprise and Malta Industrial Parks Limited.

Mr Camilleri had asked not to have his contract renewed as he is moving abroad at the end of his term.

Dr Sue Vella, who joined Malta Enterprise in March 2010 as chief operations officer, has been promoted to chief executive officer.

Both appointments will take effect on May 12. Economist Mr Zammit is a founding partner of Misco, the marketing research and HR consulting firm with operations in Malta and Cyprus.

He also served as chairman of the Malta Development Corporation, the Employment and Training Corporation and Malta International Airport and was involved in setting up Malta Enterprise. Prior to joining the investment agency, Dr Vella was CEO at the Employment and Training Corporation and served as vice president of the Employment Committee in Brussels and chair of its technical group.

In a statement announcing the appointments, Finance Minister Tonio Fenech thanked Mr Camilleri.

He said he was confident Mr Zammit and Dr Vella’s experience would help ensure Malta Enterprise continued to build on the positive results achieved over the past years.
