The long-awaited Medina Sauvignon Blanc is back in circulation, following the bottling of the latest 2013 vintage earlier this week. This most popular of white wines has been out of stock for a few weeks now due to its high demand. And if you haven’t tried it before, there is no better time than now, when it’s at its freshest and fruitiest.

This is the first of the 2013 vintage wines to be released by Emmanuel Delicata and you will be hard pushed to find a fresher wine on the market – just 12 weeks ago, the grapes used to make it were still hanging on a vine.

Medina is made from 100 per cent Malta-grown Sauvignon Blanc grapes, all of which are hand-harvested from selected family-run vineyards.

Sauvignon Blanc wines have been growing in popularity over the years, especially the Malta-grown ones, as wine lovers have started to discover and appreciate it. At this time of year, it is really at its best, packed with crisp ‘zingy’ fruit flavours reminiscent of pink grapefruit and pear drops.

Chill it well before serving and it makes the perfect pre-dinner aperitif or accompaniment to fresh fish dishes, seafood platters, shellfish, salads and white sauce-based pasta dishes. It also goes well with oriental cuisine, especially Thai, Japanese and Indian.
