Lately, a lot of us living in Australia are receiving mail from Malta five, six and even more weeks after they have been posted. In fact, just yesterday we received the first Christmas cards. We rang up friends who always send their Christmas card very early and we were assured they sent it in late November: it hasn’t arrived yet.

A few weeks ago we received a letter that was posted six weeks before: the envelope was torn and there were signs that the letter got wet, it even had an imprint from another letter which happened when two letters got stuck together. Another letter from my sister, posted at Attard, hasn’t arrived yet after five weeks.

Maybe someone can tell us what actually is happening. Some of my friends wrote to MaltaPost and they didn’t receive a reply. Someone told me that they have been told that the problem is at our end. But letters from Melbourne to Malta are arriving in five days.
