I have a question for the Labour Party leadership, for which I would like an immediate answer:

Should Labour be in power in 2014, how will it celebrate the 50th anniversary of Malta’s independence on September 21 of that year?

Will it bring some excuse that the public coffers are so low that Malta would not be able to celebrate this event as it deserves to be?

Or will it go the whole hog by holding military/civil parades and a big fireworks display in Valletta/Floriana, a public concert or two, and invite foreign dignitaries (especially a member of the British Royal Family)? Will it request Maltapost to issue a commemorative stamp?

Or will they just lay a wreath at the foot of the Independence monument and attend the usual religious function in Valletta?

It is important for me to receive this feedback now, not after the 2013 general election.
