After ignoring the police force for five years, the Government met the Malta Police Association twice in one week, according to the Labour Party.

Party spokesman Michael Falzon said that a meeting was held on a Wednesday at the Office of the Prime Minister with another following the next day in Pietà.

In reaction, the Nationalist Party said the Government had been supporting the police through various conditions including a special duty allowance and shift allowance.
