L’Homme de Malte, a book by Pierre Dimech, a French author of Maltese origin, was published recently in France by Atelier Folfer Editions.

In this work, the author retraces his history and roots, which converge in Malta in the early 19th century when many Maltese emigrated to North Africa.

The Maltese Embassy in France hosted the book launch earlier this month. The event started off with a short introduction by Maltese Ambassador to France Pierre Clive Agius, who praised Mr Dimech for his evident love for Malta.

Mr Dimech shared his experiences of his first ever visit to Malta, of his visit to his ancestors’ house which still stands in Floriana, and of his childhood in Algeria.

The author would like to publish his work in Maltese and in English to make the book more accessible to readers.

The book, which is available in France, will eventually also be available in Malta.
