The Winter League continued last weekend with the match between Krishna and Marsa.

Nowell Khosla and John Grima opened the innings for Krishna and what a partnership it was.

They produced 68 runs and both were out at that score. Grima was bowled for 29 runs and Khosla was run out after making 35.

Greg Symons managed two runs before being bowled as Bikram Arora was on 28 runs from 25 balls when he smashed a full toss in the direction of Haroon Majeed who stuck out his left hand and took the catch.

Towards the end of the innings, Mike Caruana added 22 runs and from their 30 overs Krishna totalled 138 runs.

For Marsa, Derek Ali bowled well, taking three wickets while Joy Ghoseroy took two.

Khosla was a man on a mission and in his opening spell of bowling took three wickets and Kevin Krishna one which had the Marsa team in a spin and only 16 runs on the board.

Frank Spiteri was still at the crease though and with Tony Azzopardi, they started rebuilding the innings until Spiteri was bowled. He had made 40 runs from 35 balls.

Majeed joined Azzopardi and they made more good progress towards their target.

Azzopardi was then stumped by John Grima and the game seemed over for Marsa.

Majeed hit a couple of boundaries to keep his team in the match but he was eventually caught by Arora in the deep to bow out on 33 runs from 23 balls.

Once Majeed was gone, Krishna made light work of the tailenders and Marsa were bowled out for 119 runs.

Arora and Matthew Gillard took two wickets each.

The winners left the oval with nine points in their bags as Marsa had to settle for one.

On Saturday, Marsa play Melita in a match where both teams will be in search of their first win.
