Krishna CC made it two Winter League wins in succession at the Oval last weekend as they beat Marsa in convincing fashion to add ten more points to their tally.

Marsa, who had Malcolm Crabbe missing, batted first with Frank Spiteri and Joy Ghoseroy at the crease. They ripped right into the bowling, scoring approximately ten runs an over for the first four overs of the innings.

That is until Bikram Arora came on to bowl. He soon had Spiteri stumped for 26 and in his next over, Arora took another two wickets.

Ghoseroy got dismissed first with a bowl that pitched close to a foot outside the leg stump and came back in. He left with 21 runs.

Derek Ali was Arora’s next victim, this time Kevin Krishna taking a superb catch at mid-on.

Arora was again terrorising the Marsa batsmen a couple of overs later when he bowled Haroon Majeed (almost a repeat of the Ghoseroy’s dismissal). Majeed left with 28 runs, including two sixes.

In his final over, Arora took another two wickets, that of Tony Azzopardi and Sarfraz Ali, for an impressive six... a feat that will be difficult to better in this winter competition.

On Saturday, only 14 runs were taken from his bowling.

It took Krishna 18 overs to reach their target and seal victory.

They started off shakily though, losing Andy Mitchell (eight runs) and Adam Caruana.

But Andy Lenard and Nowell Khosla produced a 42-run partnership that put an end to any Marsa hopes of victory.

Lenard made a run-a-ball 33 which included five boundaries. Khosla remained not out on 41 and John Rusher chipped in with three runs. Adam Krishna struck the winning four runs for his team.

For Marsa, Ali took two wickets.

On Saturday, Marsa play Melita who are still in with a chance of finishing top in the league but they have to win all their last three games to stay in contention.
