Daniel Zahra will be flying to France next month for a professional bout against Marseille-based, Savate practitioner Laurient Debon.

Under the watchful eyes of his instructor Noel Mercieca, Zahra will fight full contact in a match of five rounds of two minutes each.

Savate is a French martial art discipline, originally created by sailors who prepared to defend themselves, if needed, while at sea.

This style varies from traditional kickboxing due to the fact that it allows kicks to the front of the legs and the use of special shoes which have reinforced toes.

It will be the first time that a Maltese kickboxer will compete in this discipline.

For Zahra this will also be his second professional bout after the World Kickboxing Network (WKN) Title fight which he won in December.

Meanwhile, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) classes are currently being held at the Ying Yang Club. One may obtain more details through www.yingyangkickboxing.com or by phoning 7920-8283.
