With the Gozitan team involved in the UEFA Regions Cup group matches last week, there was only one game played from the GFA Division One league as other teams from the sister island figured in the second round of the U*Bet FA Trophy.

Three GFA teams are through to the third round of the KO competition, the second most important on the Malta FA calendar.

Nadur Youngsters claimed the biggest scalp of all as they ousted BOV Division One outfit Marsaxlokk 1-0.

SK Victoria Wanderers eliminated Mġarr United 2-1 and Sannat Lions registered an impressive 6-1 win over Swieqi United.

Kerċem Ajax went out of the FA Trophy after losing to Senglea on penalties but they made up for that upset by beating Sannat 3-0 in the league to move top of the standings, level with Xagħra United on seven points.

Kerċem had their best chances with attempts by Kyumyudzhiev, Jean Paul Mizzi and Stoyko Sakaliev while Sannat hit back through efforts from Manwel Cordina, Ernest Qordja and Sunday Baala.

Four minutes from half-time, Kerċem opened the scoring when Mizzi beat the Sannat keeper after some fine build-up work by Marlon Mamo.

The Ajax doubled their lead from a 57th-minute penalty, awarded for a handling infringement by Patrick Camilleri. The spot-kick was converted by Sakaliev.

Kerċem made sure of the points three minutes later with an Ian Xuereb goal following a strong run by Sakaliev.

The Lions’ woes were compounded 23 minutes from time when Dylan Mercieca was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Division Two

Oratory Youths chalked up their third win on the trot after handing a 7-0 drubbing to Għarb Rangers last weekend.

The Youths scored one goal during the first half, through James Tabone, but the floodgates opened after the break with goals from Christian Cardona (54), Francesco Cini (57), Frank Attard (60, 70), a penalty by keeper Elliot Fenech (76) and substitute Andrew Zammit (78).

Munxar Falcons are second in the standings following a shock 4-1 win over Għajnsielem.

The Blacks had Carmel Vella sent off after just five minutes but took the lead from a Charlon Tabone penalty on 12 minutes.

However, Munxar soon made the extra man count and an Oliver Curmi brace and goals from Daniel Pace and Joseph Mizzi saw them through.

In another match, Żebbuġ Rovers and St Lawrence Spurs took a point apiece after a two-all draw.

Żebbuġ broke the deadlock through a Victor John Saliba own goal just before half-time but St Lawrence turned the result in their favour with goals from Mario Portelli and Josef Debrincat.

The Rovers saved the result with a late equaliser by Sylvan Galea.
