Kerċem Ajax slipped further behind in the race for the GFA Division One championship after being held by SK Victoria Wanderers, their second draw in as many games.

Kerċem got the breakthrough they deserved on 62 minutes with a low drive by Malcolm Vella.

However, the Wanderers levelled matters on 74 minutes. A Kenneth Mercieca shot was handled on the line by Joseph Azzopardi. The latter was sent off and Eric Nwankwo converted the penalty.

Joseph Vella reduced the deficit for Xagħra but, on 57 minutes, Paul Rapa made it 6-2 and on the hour, Xagħra’s Kostenski scored his side’s third goal.

The score became 7-3 on 73 minutes after an Elton Vella goal from a free-kick and Joseph Vella got Xagħra’s fourth three minutes from time.

In the other matchday 14 fixture, Sannat Lions scored a dramatic late goal in a 1-0 victory over fellows-in-distress Victoria Hotspurs.
