Floriana keeper William Amamoo has been slapped with a fine of 6,000 euros by the Malta FA for failing to honour his contract and turn up for a Premier League match.

Floriana were incensed when Amamoo was declared fit by the club’s medics and ordered to join the squad for the match against Valletta last month but the Ghanaian insisted he was feeling unwell and unable to play.

The Greens lost the derby 1-0 with stand-in Manuel Bartolo in goal. Amamoo was subsequently suspended by the club and the case put in front of the MFA Disciplinary Board for deliberation.

Reports said Amamoo is not ex-pected to be retained by Floriana at the end of his suspension.
