A proud Duchess of Cambridge has said that Prince George was “such a good boy” at his christening.

She spoke after leaving her three-month-old son, the third in line to the throne, “fast asleep” so she could step into the limelight for a fundraising gala dinner to help people with addictions.

A glamorous-looking Kate, with flowing hair and wearing a sweeping black and teal floor-length gown, attended the 100 Women in Hedge Funds (100WHF) philanthropic initiatives reception and dinner at the Kensington Palace State Apartments.

The event was held in aid of the charity Action on Addiction.

Kate spoke to the invited guests about the success of Wednesday’s christening, which took place at the historic Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace.

Kate is slowly returning to the public eye following Prince George’s birth in July and she is easing her way back into carrying out solo public engagements.

She is a patron of both Action on Addiction and 100WHF, an organisation for professionals in the alternative investments industry.

Last week she helped to back young British athletic talent at an event at the Olympic Park. On Thursday she presented Dame Amelia Fawcett with the 100 WHF’’s 2013 European Industry Leadership Award.

Action on Addiction is involved in tackling addiction through research, prevention, treatment, professional education and family support.

It has centres in Dorset, London, Merseyside and Wiltshire.

The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry are also patrons of 100 WHF’s philanthropic initiatives.
