I refer to the article ‘Fresh plans for Kappara Junction’ (The Sunday Times, October 28). Unfortunately the article is accompanied by a small drawing which shows only a part of the proposed junction.

If I have understood the proposal correctly the project concentrates only on the visual impact and land-takes aspects and ignores the increased travelled distances, travel times, delays and pollution aspects which could be quite severe, especially if projected to a future design date.

The proposed contrived hairpins could also be a source of accidents for large vehicles and poor drivers, especially on slippery surfaces.

I hope the proposal is properly screened by qualified experts in this field.
