Liberty and freedom can never justify abuse. I suggest that Darrell Greco (‘Vilification laws’, The Sunday Times of Malta, October 11) finds the right meaning for the word ‘vilification’.

I am fully in favour of the right to criticise any organisation with proper and justified arguments but without resorting to insults. Religions have their dogma. If you do not agree, do not follow any particular religion. Nobody, however, has the right to ridicule what he does not agree with.

Religions are like any other society or club. If you do not agree with their laws and regulations, find another club.

Nevertheless, you have no right to vilify or insult that club with which you do not find affinity.
