My son last week appeared in a minor’s court as a witness to an incident which happened on June 28.

The case was regarding a 14-year-old boy (unfamiliar to us) who pushed my son into the sea while he was fishing from the Birżebbuġa waterpolo pitch!

Although this boy is under the care of a probation officer, not only was he acquitted of his crime but was also praised by the magistrate for his progress as reported by his probation officer. Obviously, the probation officer only reports his progress in school, which has nothing to do with his behaviour in society, which I myself can testify is out of control.

Where is the justice here? Next time (though I hope there won’t be a next time!) I will not bother going to the police to sort any mishaps!
