A set of Pelican lights installed in Paola four months ago only need to be switched on, according to Enemalta, which yesterday said electricity was supplied two weeks ago.

The corporation was reacting to a statement by Paola mayor Roderick Spiteri, who complained on Thursday that Pelican lights in Valletta Road were still not working despite having been installed for months.

Mr Spiteri said when the local council complained, Transport Malta said it was still waiting for the lights to be supplied with electricity.

Enemalta said the traffic lights were energised on December 18, “something which was also confirmed by a Transport Malta official (on Thursday)”. It also pointed out that an application for the traffic lights had only been submitted on November 29.
