Gingerline, a Junior College rock band, has been awarded the Jury Special Award by an international jury for their participation in the second edition of the Vodafone Freezone International High School Music Contest at the Volkswagen Arena in Istanbul, Turkey.

The contest was organised by End Productions, led by founder and president Serhat Hacipasalioglu, a veteran and popular Turkish singer/performer who will be representing San Marino in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

Gingerline, made up of Adel Montanaro, Melchior Giordimaina, Ian Ellul, Nicholas Camilleri and Mark Vella, were accompanied by lecturers Manoel Pirotta and Ronald Grech Santucci. The band competed with a cover version of Led Zeppelin’s Whole Lotta Love.

The international jury included composer and singer Philip Vella.

The participation of the band was made possible with the support of Robert Cefai, the local contact, the Junior College and the World Association of Festivals and Artists.
