Statistics show that men contemplate suicide more often than women, so most research has tended to focus on them.

However, the hidden reality is that women are about three times more likely to try, meaning those who have attempted need particular assistance with their problems so they do not end up killing themselves by accident or design.

The statistics are explored in detail in the June issue of Pink magazine, out with Times of Malta tomorrow. It also takes an in-depth look at prescribed gender roles among children. Why is it that while women have managed to escape from the kitchen to pursue careers, the toys and clothes offered to their kids have remained firmly stuck in some sort of 1960s male utopia?

The June issue also offers a first-hand account of facing the scourge of adult acne and how to treat it in the most effective way. But glamour also finds its place – on the rocks, to be precise, in the fashion photo shoot that showcases long, elegant dresses, blowing in the breeze.

Some of the season’s catwalk shows are also captured on camera for a snapshot of what to wear this summer.

Malta’s top women’s magazine also includes the usual touch of history and culture, zooming in on the fascinating life of an eccentric and enterprising Maltese woman this time, while art, humour, horoscopes and health are also covered for an all-round read.

Pink is a monthly magazine, published by Allied Newspapers Ltd and printed by Progress Press.
