The number of tourists in June rose by 6.2 per cent to more than 147,300 over the same month last year, making it another record month.

The National Statistics Office said the UK and Italy remained Malta’s main tourism markets taking up 32 and 11 per cent.

The British market registered a rise of seven per cent while the total number of German tourists fell by seven per cent and Italians by eight.

A total of 1.2 million tourist nights were registered, with expenditure reaching €128.6 million – a growth of 13 per cent over last year.
