Santa Luċija local council is teaming up with the parish to commemorate and celebrate with residents, their families and friends the namesake of their locality with an open-air Mass, followed by a live concert.

The guests for this year’s annual activity are the Joy Gospel Singers, a choir based in the same locality, with the participation of leading singers Georgina Abela and Chris Grech as well as budding young singer Rachel Mamo. This celebration is being held on Saturday, starting with Mass animated by the Joy Gospel Singers, at 7th July, 1961 Square (open space next to parish church) at 7.30pm.

During the ensuing concert, Abela will perform an aria from the musical Ġensna and Tema 79 from the same rock opera, with the musical and vocal accompaniment of the Joy Gospel Singers, under the musical direction of their founder and leader Michelle Abela.

Mamo, who recently gained experience abroad through her participation in a singing competition, will be interpreting a song from her repertoire called On my Own.

Chris Grech, also from Santa Luċija, and lead singer of the rock band Twenty-six-other-worlds, will interpret Imagine, and will be joining the Joy Gospel Singers in an arrangement of We are the World.

The public is invited to attend. Entrance is free.
