Henry Schembri, 1st Cospicua Scout Group, writes:

For all those who knew him, John Brincat, Group Scout leader, 1st Cospicua Scout Group, and Commissioner, was an intelligent and energetic man who dedicated his life to serve others.

In the 1950s his vision was that the 1st Cospicua Scout Group must have a decent premises so as to have the possibility to grow.

From one room, he succeeded to move to a three-roomed premises in the heart of Cospicua.

After hard work and many obstacles, the group subsequently moved to new premises on the Vittoriosa bastions.

John was a born leader, possessing a charisma to listen and understand both the young and the older scouts.

For many he was known as Mr Brincat, or John, but all my friends and colleagues of the 1950s just called him Chief, and he deserved it.

I am sure that his wife Victoria made many sacrifices in their married life to raise a family of five children, andindirectly, hundreds of others.

The Chief was a gentleman and he made gentlemen. In my opinion he was and will remain a legend.
