Unemployment figures went up by 474 people between February 2013 and the same month this year, data shows.

The Employment and Training Corporation registered 7,753 unemployed in February, compared with 7,279 a year earlier. A total of 537 more people joined Part 1 of the register. However, 63 fewer people registered under Part 2.

Registrants aged 45 and over rose by 6.2 per cent, to 3,186, but increases were recorded among all age groups, except the under-20s. Excluding part-time workers, February’s unemployment rate was 4.6 per cent of the labour supply.
