Pietro Marino will return to Maltese football this month after an agreement was reached for the Italian goalkeeper to rejoin the Citizens for the rest of the season.

Marino, 28, joined Valletta in summer of 2013.

His performances in the early weeks of the season suggested he would further strengthen the City rearguard but his form tailed off as the campaign progressed.

In the last weeks, the champions were looking to add another goalkeeper to their fold after Yenz Cini and Manwel Bartolo were loaned out to Gudja and Zebbug, respectively.

For Saturday’s match against Qormi, Valletta coach Ivan Zammit called up the 18-year-old Ryan Caruana to provide cover for first choice Nicky Vella.

Meanwhile, the club also confirmed on their website that they will be running the rule over former Liverpool academy striker David Moli.

Moli is expected to join Valletta for a trial today.
