Italian contemporary artist Ruggiero Bignardi will be exhibiting his art at Opus Gallery 64, Tignè Street, Sliema, until September 29.

Born in 1971 in Salerno, Italy, Bignardi graduated in fine art and also spent successive summers in Paris. The colourful influence of these two Mediterranean cultures are reflected in his work – particularly in the captured, slices-of-life compositions and also in the varied palette that emerges from the life-studies and the portraits, particularly in the executed pastel figures and skin tones.

Bignardi confesses his admiration for the Impressionists, the bon vivants and la vie Parisienne, captured so vividly by Renoir in his rippling palette of colour and light. He also finds inspiration in Monet’s fleeting glimpses of moving matter and primary colours.

Opening hours are Monday to Saturday from 11am to 1pm and 5 to 7pm.
