An elected political party in government has the duty to lead the country according to its policy in the interest of the people for the whole legislature. Equally, all elected MPs have the responsibility to support their party policy and the party elected by the people. In the next election the electorate will then have the opportunity either to confirm the same party in office or vote for an alternative party presenting reliable and feasible proposals.

No administration is devoid of shortcomings. However, Lawrence Gonzi’s leadership is marked by many more achievements than failures both in the domestic and international scenes namely, among others, the economic stability vis-à-vis the world crisis and the excellent handling of the Libya crisis. His determination has been put to the test and he has emerged successfully in decisive situations.

It takes leadership stamina, for instance, to bring about the overdue public transport reform which, however, requires more adjustments. Same as other PN predecessors, Dr Gonzi has a record of job creation and family-friendly measures within a landscaped, physical environment and of strengthening democracy as opposed to a taste of anti-democratic times in a local TV programme in which Peppi Azzopardi was drastically attacked.

With just one seat majority Prime Minister Gonzi is governing with considerable success against all odds. Would it be a limitless potential with a larger majority?
