The Prime Minister is promising a development for these islands through medical tourism. So far, so good, provided it is true and the project materialises one day.

Yet, when trying to attract people to undergo operations in Malta, has he realised that, after an operation, people are usually advised not to fly? Here, there is a huge problem.

This island is isolated, with no direct ferry service to and from the continent. This therefore means that people seeking treatment here will have to get up before dawn to catch an expensive Virtu Ferries boat and then make their way to another harbour in Sicily to board another ferry to reach the continent, all this at a staggering return price of some €900-€1,000.

Food for thought... just one of the issues.
