Island Caterers Ltd recently appointed Tonio Aquilina as general manager.

Mr Aquilina joined Island Hotels Group in 2008 as food and beverage manager at the Radisson Blu Resort & Spa, Golden Sands and was subsequently promoted to hotel operations manager.

Mr Aquiling started his career in the industry after graduating in hotel and catering management from the Institute of Tourism Studies. He then moved to York, England to gain experience in the field, carrying out general hotel management duties.

On his return to Malta, he joined the Dolmen Hotel as food and beverage manager and worked his way up to business development manager. Amid his experience in the industry, he continued to further his career at Bellevue Palace, a leading hotel in Berne, Switzerland, the Mġarr Hotel, Grand Hotel Mercure San Antonio as well as the Accor Hotel in Athens.
