Ilia Galan from Carlos III University, Madrid, will deliver a public lecture entitled Ridiculous and Boring Politics in Contemporary Fine Arts on Friday at 5pm in the University’s Gateway Building, Hall B1, Msida, organised by the History of Art department. Prof. Galan will argue that the triumph of avant-garde art movements has perpetuated a lack of criticism in the field of art theory. Shock and outrage have almost disappeared as everything is possible, resulting in banal, ridiculous and boring art installations.
