Irregular immigrants who were still in Malta in closed and open centres at the end of April were 1,048 and 2,294, respectively, Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici told Labour MP Joe Mizzi in reply to a parliamentary question. Answering another question by Mr Mizzi, Dr Mifsud Bonnici said that between 2004 and 2010, 1,213 immigrants had gone missing from detention centres.
