Top Maltese artist Ira Losco recently returned from a mini-tour with popular Italian singer songwriter Max Gazzè.

The Maltese singer was invited by Gazzè, giving her the opportunity to accompany him to sing in front of thousands of people at various sold-out venues.

Thanks to huge hits such as Mentre Dormi and Una Musica Può Fare, the latter his breakthrough 1999 San Remo entry, Gazzè has secured his position as one of Italy’s leading and best-selling contemporary artists; a position strengthened further thanks to his numerous live shows and loyal fanbase.

In all, Losco was invited to perform on five dates between August 13 and 25, singing a repertoire that featured Gazzè’s greatest hits as well as some of her own songs with the Italian artist’s band backing her.

She also duetted with Gazzè on Vento D’Estate, one of his most popular hits. Her song Accident Prone attracted enough interest from promoters and record executives who were present at the concerts that they offered her further dates.

Losco also managed to impress audiences with her rendition of he Bill Withers classic, Ain’t No Sunshine, which coincidentally both artists play as part of their repertoire.

Speaking about the Gazzè experience, Losco’s manager Howard Keith said that “with an eagerly-awaited new album on the way and various projects under wrap, these are very exciting and busy times for us.

“Ira was also invited to perform at what was to be a record-breaking concert featuring top Italian stars and top international artists in Europe last month, but this has unfortunately been postponed to next year.”

After this collaboration, Losco and Gazzè will be remain-ing in touch, with the prospect of working together again in the near future a very likely possibility.
