Two drunken Frenchmen who jumped on a rented car and caused €500 in damage were yesterday put on probation for two years. Marc Mehanni, 19, residing in Gżira and his friend Pierre Antoine Pasquis, 22, living in St Julians had been drinking until the early hours of the morning on Thursday when they jumped on the roof of a Suzuki Alto in St George’s Bay.

An eyewitness called the police and the two were promptly arrested.

Yesterday they pleaded guilty to damaging the car, threatening police officers, disobeying orders and being drunk to the point of being unable to take care of themselves.

Magistrate Antonio Mizzi put them on probation for two years and ordered them to pay €500.
